what's dorkbot-alba?

around the globe there is a movement of small, autonomous gatherings with a similar goal: offering a platform to artists, designers, scientists, nerds, students and others who let themselves be inspired by technology. this movement is called dorkbot.

first there was dorkbotnyc, a monthly meeting of electronic artists in new york.

dorkbotnyc is a monthly meeting of artists (sound / image / movement / whatever), designers, engineers, students and other interested parties from the new york area who are involved in the creation of electronic art (in the broadest sense of the term.)

some people realised that scotland might need such a meeting, and dorkbot-alba was born.

the purpose of dorkbot-alba is to:

• give artists/programmers/engineers an opportunity for informal peer review
• establish a forum for the presentation of new art works/technology/software/hardware
• help establish relationships and foster collaboration between people with various backgrounds and interests
• give us all a chance to see the cool things that our neighbours are working on

why dorkbot-alba?

alba is the gaelic name for scotland. alba is the genetically altered rabbit created for artist eduardo kac. alba is a brand of consumer electronics. that's why!
