dorkbot ABQ

The main goals of dorkbot are: to create an informal, friendly environment in which people can talk about the work they're doing and to foster discussion about that work; to help bring together people from different backgrounds who are interested in similar things; to give us all an opportunity to see the strange things our neighbors are doing with electricity. dorkbot isn't really a forum for formal artist talks or lectures, but rather a chance for diverse people to have friendly conversations about interesting ideas.

Dorkbot originated in New York City. Since its conception, groups have been sprung up all over the world. For more information check out

Who's Presenting:

Joel Hobbie: Creates interactive sculpture’s using salvaged machined parts and organic forms. We will visit a public space to view a currently installed creation. Described as a Theremin circuit controlling tri color LED’s instead of sound within an organic form.
Hands on session: Lead by Adric. We will make magnetic LED/Magnet "Throwie's". They are fun to toss for even the most experienced electronics folks. Please bring $5 to cover materials if you would like to participate in making the Throwies. Yes, you get to keep your Throwie’s.
