TITLE: Xerox Drawing No.4
MATERIALS: Solar battery charger, Xerox machine, flashlight
DATE: 2003
DESCRIPTION
A solar cell powered battery charger will be photocopied
as many times as it takes to charge two AA NiCads. The by-product
of this self-serving process (the number of 8 1/2 by 11"
photocopies it takes to charge the batteries} will be arranged
on the walls of a dark room, visible only via a flashlight powered
by the charged batteries. Driven by a graceful exchange of light
energy, the piece examines energy conservation from an absurd
angle. The by-product becomes the gallery object, rounding out
a system which is simultaneously self-serving and self-defeating.
